“The Matrix Resurrections,” the fourth film in the “Matrix” saga, is now playing in theaters and on HBO Max.
The film stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity.
To stream the movie at home, you need an ad-free subscription to HBO Max ($15/month).
The fourth movie in the “Matrix” franchise is now available, and you can watch it from the comfort of your own couch for a limited time. “The Matrix Resurrections” landed in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22, but it will only be available to stream until January 22.
Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are back as Neo and Trinity from the original “Matrix” trilogy. The new film take place 20 years after the events of “The Matrix Revolutions.” When Neo rediscovers that his seemingly ordinary world might not be real, he is once again thrust into a mind-bending adventure. Directed by Lana Wachowski, the movie aims to deliver a sci-fi spectacle with plenty of action and drama. Reviews have been mixed but mostly positive.
“The Matrix” originally came out in 1999, with two sequels following shortly after: “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions,” which both dropped in 2003. All of the earlier films are available to stream on HBO Max with either the $10/month or $15/month ad-free subscriptions.
How to watch ‘The Matrix Resurrections’
You can now watch “The Matrix Resurrections” on HBO Max and in theaters. The movie premiered on December 22, and subscribers have through January 21 to stream it. After that date, the movie will be removed from HBO Max until later this year. An exact date for the film’s return to HBO Max has not been announced.
Right now, streaming access to “The Matrix Resurrections” is only available to HBO Max ad-free plan subscribers. For a limited time, new members can get 20% off the regular $15 monthly price, bringing the cost for your first year down to $12 a month. The deal expires on January 25.
If you want try HBO Max for free before buying a subscription, your only option is to go through Hulu. Hulu subscribers can claim a seven-day trial of HBO Max as an add-on service. The trial is only available to members who are new to HBO Max.
You can stream “The Matrix Resurrections,” or any other HBO Max content, through your web browser or with the HBO Max app. The app is available on most smartphones, Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles, tablets, and smart TVs. You can find a complete list of compatible devices on the HBO Max website.
What else can I watch on HBO Max?
All of the earlier “Matrix” movies are also available to stream on HBO Max, including “The Matrix,” “The Matrix Reloaded,” and “The Matrix Revolutions.”
There’s also plenty more where that came from. Keanu fans can also find “Constantine,” “Speed,” and “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” in the HBO Max library. If you’re looking for more classic sci-fi and action, flicks like “Equilibrium” and “V for Vendetta” might be more your speed.
Subscribers can also check out new HBO Max original shows, including “Peacemaker,” “And Just Like That…” and “Station Eleven.”
