NORTH FORT MYERS
Prayers, cheers, memories shared, and tears at Coach Ron Hoover’s celebration of life. Whether on the gridiron or in their personal lives, Coach Hoover played a large role to many different people.
On Jay Wade’s toughest day Coach Hoover gave him a reason to want to live by giving him the love, not even his family could give him.
“I sat there contemplating,” Wade says. “I heard this voice don’t quit, don’t give up. Who was that voice? Ron Hoover.”
Wade is one of the many players Coach Hoover took under his wing. Coach Hoover took into his home and became more than just a coach, he became a father guiding him in the right direction.
“He cared, he was a compassionate man,” Wade says.
Coach Hoover’s daughter, Lindsay Hoover, saw what her dad did for the community every day for the young men of North Fort Myers High.
Lindsay Hoover says, “It’s just so amazing and it really makes you want to be a better person. It really makes me so proud to be Coach Hoover’s daughter.”
Lindsay knows she has one very special fan up there looking down on her.
“I hope my daddy is up there kicking butt in heaven and coaching football.”
