CHARLOTTE COUNTY

The Florida Highway Patrol confirms that one man died during a crash in Charlotte County. This happened at the intersection of SR-776 and Hollis Avenue just before 1 p.m. on Saturday.

According to FHP, an 83-year-old man was driving his car west along Hollis Ave then stopped at the stop sign. A 47-year-old woman driving a truck was heading north on SR-776, approaching the intersection.

The car proceeded into the intersection after stopping, and the truck hit the front driver’s side of the car.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of this crash.
